Case Study: Tyler’s Beer

Full branding that gave a family business an edge for future commercial expansion

Key services

Tyler’s Beer is an Australian, family-run traditional beer brewing company that produces old fashioned-style beer. Their short-term goal for their company is to introduce themselves to the local area and later reach channels such as hotels and alcohol distributors. Their long-term goal is to become a globally recognised beer company.

They approached Ooze Studios to create their branding from scratch to make Tyler’s Beer a recognisable brand in the community and the industry.

Challenge

Tyler’s Beer had no branding assets when they got in touch with Ooze Studios. But they had a brand vision and an idea of how they wanted to present themselves to their potential clients.

We took on the challenge of developing a complete brand identity that would clearly convey their vision and story to their audience. We had to dig deep and discover what could uniquely represent this new brand.

Solution

Using design inspirations provided by the owner, Ralph Tyler, our team presented a mood board, a selection of logo variations using a mix of typefaces and symbols to identify the direction they wanted to go with. Monograms and the usual beer logo elements just didn’t cut it. We wanted to bring out more of the brand’s unique background and what drives them. So, we produced a logo anchored on the Tyler family’s story while seamlessly linking it to their product—a hop flower that represented the six members of their family with the “T” initial as the stem.

From there we created their branding guidelines, which also included typeface and color palette selection.

Results

Ralph Tyler loved the logo and branding guidelines that we created for the business.

He noted: “We are really happy with the logo design Ooze studios crafted for us. The logo and symbol are meaningful and resonate with our brand values. The Ooze staff were able to walk us seamlessly through the entire design process and we are beyond satisfied with the final product.”

Conclusion

Branding is all about storytelling and consistency. Logos, in particular, should represent a brand’s vision and background for it to stand out and cut through the noise of modern marketing. The journey may not always be a linear process, but with flexibility and collaboration, we can create iconic visuals that align with and establish your brand’s vision and values.
